Being seen and supported for who you are is vital to feeling comfortable with your therapist. Will strives to provide an affirming space for all individuals, predominantly gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary individuals and couples. Heteronormative societal pressures often force sexual minorities to think of themselves in a non-affirming language, creating internal conflict and self-doubt. Crafting therapy with a language that reflects your lifestyle and beliefs is a hallmark of Will's therapeutic approach, and we craft that language together in a safe and collaborative space.

Will adheres to Feminist Theory, which directly addresses the oppressive societal forces shaping culture in America. It is vital to acknowledge how social and religious forces have impacted minorities collectively and individually.

In Will's therapeutic philosophy, change arises from a shift in perspective. When in therapy, you do not suddenly become someone else, nor do problems suddenly vanish. Nevertheless, one can dramatically shift how you view yourself and your behaviors regarding the issues.

For the last 20 years, Will has used the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model as the basis of his mentorship work in the LGBTQ+ community, and it delivers remarkable results. IFS offers the tools to unearth and discuss the oppressive forces that have shaped a client's perception of Self. Will also uses Narrative therapy to provide the client a mechanism to rewrite their story literally. Blending these therapeutic models opens numerous pathways to crafting meaningful change.
