Associateship Program

Learn from highly experienced, queer-affirming therapists in San Francisco.

Queer-Affirming

As an agency that values inclusivity and queer-affirming care, we have developed a comprehensive Associateship program designed to equip the next generation of therapists with the knowledge and skills necessary to support and empower LGBTQIA+ clients. The program recognizes and embraces the complexities of gender identity, sexual orientation, and the intersections of identity.

Culturally Insightful

Cultural insightful, competent care is key in providing sensitive mental health care to LGBTQIA+ clients. Our Associateship program focuses on dispelling stereotypes, addressing biases, and challenging heteronormative assumptions. By cultivating cultural humility, our therapists learn to embrace diverse experiences and perspectives, ensuring that their treatment approaches are respectful, affirming, and tailored to each individual's needs.

SF Therapy Collective is currently taking applications for post-graduate, license-eligible (MFTI, ASW) clinical associates who are eager to gain hours toward licensure in California.

Why Join?

We are offering the opportunity to participate in an exciting and fast-growing LGBTQIA+ focused mental health practice that also offers virtual services. SF Therapy Collective offers an hour of individual supervision, administrative structure (office space, Telehealth account, Theranest account), and a stipend awarded quarterly. We are looking for associates who can commit to staying with the agency for a year and dedicate 8-10 hours per week at minimum.

As part of our commitment to serving our entire community and combatting the continued existence of employment discrimination and lack of diversity within the mental health profession, SF Therapy Collective has chosen to be an equal opportunity/affirmative action organization. We must continue to focus on establishing a diverse group of clinicians who work with our client base.

We encourage all interested individuals to apply, especially those who identify as people of color, disabled, HIV+, transgender, or gender variant. We are also actively seeking Spanish-speaking applicants. We feel proud to be able to train the next generation of LGBTQIA+ mental health practitioners. The community benefits as we learn from one another and hone our skills in queer-affirming, culturally insightful individual, group, and couples work.
