I practice using a number of different techniques and theories depending on the needs of my clients, but my foundation is in psychodynamic/relational theory. Essentially, this means that I believe we all react to the world based on what we learned about it throughout our early experiences and relationships. However, it also means that we can learn to react to it differently, especially through crafting our connections and relationships in ways that challenge the beliefs that aren't working for us.

As a queer therapist, I believe in our community’s unique ability to heal itself, and I wish to participate in that healing process through my work at SFTC. I have a particular interest in working with non-monogamous/polyamorous individuals and their relationships, as well as folks who fall outside the gender binary.

Therapy can be a daunting prospect and I strive to make sure that every client feels accepted and cared for throughout. I see therapy as a process of understanding the internal and external forces outside of our awareness that guide us in both helpful and unhelpful ways so that we can gain more control over our choices. We all tell stories about ourselves based in meaningful moments in our lives and what the world has told us we are worth. Through therapy, we can start to tell ourselves new stories that better encompass who we are and allow us to heal.
